AMT Answer Key error

I cannot get to the AMT answer key. I am currently on session 16 and I can go all the way through and then I choose the Gastrointestinal key and then it says "error on page" and it shows a blank page.

I can pull up other pdf files fine. Do you have any suggestions?

Virtual Class Help

Okay, I know it has been a long time since I have attended a class; however, I would like to attend tonight's. Problem: I can't get into the virtual class. When I sign in, I get a far as the class site, but then I get another box that says "Please Enter User Password." I have entered every password I have ever used, and all I get is a red message saying AU782. When I click on this, it says "click to reconnect", so I do...and I get "Please Enter User Password." Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Does it have anything to do with me being a grad now? Can anyone help?

Errata on Medical Language games disk

Did anyone else run into a problem on the gridlock game for Session 4? It gives the question "Dry skin cells slough off continuously from the most external layer of skin, the ________________" and then INSISTS that the wrong answer is the right answer! (I didn't want to post the correct and incorrect answers because I was afraid it would violate board policy.) I also ran into a problem where I typed a capitalized answer (it was an eponym) and the disk said it was wrong because I didn't capitalize it, but I DID capitalize it.

I thought somebody might be interested in this link I found today on the Adult Student Center web site. The link is to an interactive study guide at Virginia Tech. Of course it made me doubly happy as my daughter is currently a student at Tech, LOL

It has aids on memorization and reading comprehension and a section for adults with ADD (I don't know about you, but I think all of us moms have ADD to some point, LOL)

Kerri I posted this on the thread about printing tt but then thought you might not go back to that thread. I probably have the name of the softwear you recommended wrong, but wondered if there is a easy way to transfer notes from Onenote to the trial version of the other one?

Have you started the session 7 test? I am trying to keep pace with you as we seem to be working at about the same speed. Things come up and I tend to fall behind. Started last Jan so I am about 4 sessions behind. Cant seem to get them done any faster. Get a few good days in then LIFE comes along. Sharon ( hanging in there)

I need a study partner

I've been enrolled for some time, but have not gotten up to speed on this course. I could list a million excuses but it comes down to that I have to try harder. I'm currently at the practice transcriptions for session three and could really use some support and a study partner, to motivate and to talk to when I have problems. Any one interested?

Some real details: I am a 39 -year-old unemployed female, living in Vermont with my boyfriend and his two children. We have eight cats! and I knit. I think I'm a pretty decent person, and could certainly give feedback as well as accept it.

Which is what I was going for. Bummer.

But, I did get a 96!!!!!!!!!!! I'm thrilled, and also trying to beat the perfectionist down that wants to whine about the 4% wrong. You know what some of it was? I relied too heavily on the BMT Word List. Remind me to only trust it AFTER consulting the TT (which I had read, but didn't do for some things). I also think I want BOS 3.

I'm so relieved!!!

Unless something crazy happens, this session will be completed in less than 1 month. This is an amazing feat. :D

I need to vent. I have been in the program for about 1 year now. I am or was working on session 6 and just found out that my GPA has slipped below 86% (85%). I received a phone call from my instructor, she had to inform me that I have officially failed the course because I could not pass my test.

I have searched the message boards to see if there is anything posted about failing the course....there isn't. Yikes!! Does that mean that I am the only one??

I started the course off slow and fell behind, But I am a very stuboorn person who does not have the word "quit" in my vocabulary.

I'm going to let my brain rest for the weekend and I'll be calling Kathy on Monday to see if there any options for me at this point. I am willing to re-enroll and I already have most of my books. I wonder if they let students re-enroll if they fail at a lower cost?? As of now I have actually paid off about 80-90% off my tuition as it is. BUMMER....

PE Jitters

Well, I finally made it to the point of the PE! Now that I am here I am finding that I am having a mixed bag of emotions. Between relief that I made it this far to freaking out about all the what ifs, and what to do with myself while i await my results. I have thoroughly enjoyed this program, yes even all those most challenging moments. Throughout this course I have, for the most part, been able to keep my confidense high but now I am starting to waiver a bit...hands are sweaty and shaking..brain is going a million miles an hour about every little possibility....

If any of you out there that have recently gone through this or are going through this spot right now have any suggestions, confidence boosters, etc., I would greatly appreciate any feedback!

Question for Mike or Instant Text users with Vista

Hello. I've been researching expander software, and it looks like with IT, Vista users must disable the UAC (user account control) in order to run IT. I was wondering if the compatibility mode or "run as administrator" techniques work so as to avoid disabling UAC altogether. I am very interested in IT, but I really don't like the idea of having to turn UAC off completely to use it. Anyone have experience with this?

Hey there!

Hope you are each doing well with your studies. I got my Test 9 back tonight and got a 97! :hehe: My best score yet. :hehe: It could have been a little better because of some silly proofreading errors on my part, :blink: but I'm pleased just the same. :satisfied: I'm working on Session 12. I had a time finding some of those challenge words. Still looking for a few. Now off to do some reading.

I will be taking a break over the next couple of days for Christmas and then the following week as we have to get chicken houses ready for baby chicks. They're coming sometime around the 1st of Jan. :rolleyes: Then I'll get back to studying after they are settled.

Session 17 test

Hi everyone,

I just got my Cardio/Thoracic Surgery test back and disappointed! I knew I was having trouble, but man! I got a 91! I haven't gotten that low in awhile! I have struggled with some tests, but not like this one. There were not just 1, but a few different instances where I just could not figure out what they were saying!!!! Also, I got a format error point taken off for too many lines under 1 paragraph and this has done this before. I ALWAYS check before I send it because before, the lines have gone up 1 all by itself, I didn't touch it, and I would have to fix it again! Has anyone else had this problem, and/or do you know how to stop it from doing that? Anyways, I just wanted to know that I'm not the only one who got close to the end, and had a tougher time than on the other tests?!:w00t:

:)Just when I was going to get an external hard drive, my computer crashes and I've lost EVERYTHING!!! I had my One Note 2007 all stocked up with notes from the TT and BOS, and I can always replace those. I can't replace my challeng words. Would anyone be able to help me out with this? My instructor knows how far I am in my studies, and I promise I'm not trying to cheat. I need sessions 2-9. My email is toni_austin71@yahoo.com. I will be soo grateful for any help I can get. Thanks so much!!! I did email my instructor, but I wanted to get the word out here as well. I could always go back and look up and retype all 7 session challenge words, but that would set me so far behind.

Hey there current M-TECers...

I just wanted to share my story with you in hopes that it would encourage you like reading happy grads' stories did me when I was a student here.

I graduated from M-TEC about 2 1/2 years ago. I did the program in about 13 months while working 30 hours a week (no kids, lots easier for me than for some of you with children at home!). I earned a 96 in the program and received 9 job offers within 2 weeks of graduating and sending out my resumes and completing testing. I accepted a position with a mid-sized company doing radiology as an employee with benefits.

Within 6 months I was promoted to assistant account manager and doing QA. I have now been promoted to account manager and am supervising 20 other transcriptionists, doing scheduling, helping maintain a web site with samples, protocols, and account specifics, communicating with hospital staff and the physicians themselves, and training new employees. I also still transcribe on the account. I have been blessed with 2 raises in that time and am making way more money than I ever dreamed was possible. I have a set schedule and do 1 weekend a month and also am on-call for management another weekend each month.

Because I have had such a fantastic year financially my husband and I are taking our first vacation in 7 years next month, to Mexico for 8 days, and we are also in the process of adopting an older child. I will be able to support my family well and still be there for them because of working at home.

I just wanted to encourage you all that you have made a great choice by pursuing medical transcription at this school. You have a wonderful future ahead of you, and I wish you all luck!

I thought things went uphill after Session 3, lol.

I loaded up the test for S4 and almost fell out of my chair when I saw the file was over 7 minutes long, lol. I am definitely spending all week working on this thing - I am determined to score at least a 98 on this thing. Wish me luck! Any advice (without giving anything away?)

Suggestions on getting started with Instant Text

I just received my Instant Text and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how they got started using it. I'm curious if any of you added any of your own glossaries or just went with what they had. I'm on Session 10 and know they suggest we begin using it in the advanced sessions. I want to have an idea what I'm doing when I get to that point.

Also wondering which one of the their glossaries you've found most useful.

Searching One Note

Okay everyone, I have searched the forums, checked out the slideshow and powerpoint presentation and not found the answer to my question. Need to get to studies but need to find an answer to this so I can be more productive with my studies. Hope someone can help me. I have had One note for quite a while and have been using it more all the time. Have run into something I thought it would do but not sure if it doesn't or if I am doing something wrong.
I heard a word, or some of it, that I knew I had looked up before and was in One Note somewhere. It sounded like b*radialis. I searched one note for b*radialis, *radialis, and radialis. It did turn up "radialis" but only as a stand alone word and not what I was looking for. I thought it would find it as a part of a word. The word I was looking for was in there and I found it after about 30 minutes, but it would have been only a couple minutes if the search had worked as I thought it should. My question is: Do I have something not configured correctly or am I mistaken in thinking that it should have found my word with "radialis" only as the last part of the word? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is it possible to work while you are away from home. I have children and grandkids in 4 different places and my goal is to work at home but take time to visit them. Can I work when I visit them, I have read but am confused. Can you take a vacation in any of these situations and not work for a week.

Session 7 - Test 5 - Login Questions

I am a couple days away from taking Test 5. I printed off my syllabus for S7 about a week ago and it says to key in the password as usual to take the test. However, I noticed tonight in the updated version of S7 syllabus, it has two sets of passwords?

Has anyone taken Test 5? Is there one test or two? I guess I need to try them both and see what happens. I was just curious if anyone else came across this at some point.

Hi Everyone,

I was just listening to a radio show and there was mention of Obama having a website at www.change.gov where he is encouraging people to give their thoughts and concerns about healthcare and other issues. I emailed the site about my concerns regarding medical records and information being processed overseas. Would some of you join me in sending emails to this site expressing the desire to make it mandatory to have medical records remain in the US under any new legislation that is enacted for his healthcare reform. This would not only help to preserve our profession and jobs for US citizens, but it would also benefit the privacy of patient's medical records for everyone. I hope you can find the time during this holiday season to take a few minutes and send a note.

I fell off the wagon b/c of the business of the holidays (I'm working retail every night after taking care of the kids all day!). I have been sitting on my test for session 4 for weeks now and finally sent it in yesterday. I got it back today and got a 96%! I'm so excited. I wish I had sent it in weeks ago now! I am hoping this will motivate me enough to get past Christmas so I can really focus on my studies again.

I'm about to graduate from M-Tec hopefully in the next month or 2. I've started looking at jobs online just to see what is out there. Everything out there that I've found says you must have a minimum of 1 year experience to a minimum of 5 years experience. Several I've found says no newbies sorry. Where are a lot of you finding jobs? I haven't seen anything yet that says they will take newbies with no experience. Thanks!!

Some questions about the hiring process

I'm slowly coming to the end (well, almost) of my studies and had a some questions about the hiring process for MTs.

Do companies usually contact your references before they offer you a job? Does anyone know what kind of questions they ask, or how many references they contact? (My most valuable reference has retired, and I'm not even sure if I can find him or if he will be available for contact!)

Also, once you get a job offer, does the company expect an immediate reply, or can you ask for some time to consider the offer? If so, how much time is reasonable?

I don't have DSL/cable but use a terrestrial wireless broadband service for high-speed internet, which is inexpensive and reliable so I don't want to switch unless I have to. I've noticed many companies require DSL/cable. Would it be reasonable to say to a company that I can order DSL service (which is available for my phone-line) if I'm offered a job with a company that insists on it?

Hope you bear with me. It's been a while since I've been in the market for a job!

Im feeling like a complete MTech failure. Not on any part of the school. I love the school and my instructor. Its me. I cant focus. Ive had to re-enroll once and am afraid that I am going to have to re-enroll again. I dont know why im so behind the 8 ball on studying. Have I lost that part of schooling? I mean I have a full time job and I travel 45 min each way everyday to work. I try to study as much as I can at work when I have down time. But sometimes I dont have down time. Then I get home and I am so exhausted that I cant even think about studying. Then the weekend comes and wham I have one million things that seem to be more important. The sad thing is, is I LOVE doing the MT stuff. I love the medical stuff. It comes easy to me. Its the darn ENGLISH that gets me all twisted up and I cant move sometimes (comma where, is that a sentence? semi colon?) What is wrong with me? Anyway. I guess I didnt know where else to "vent", my H2B doesnt understand and neither do any of my firends. Even sadder was that my H2B said that as soon as I "graduated" I could quit my job and work from home and have children. Ughh... isnt that incentive enough?

I had to re-enroll in Jan 08 its now Dec 08 and im only on session 4!!!

Anyone else feel like me? I could use a pep talk!

Today I submitted my test for session 9. I feel like it may be one of my best ones yet. Wish me luck! I am done with the terminolgy words for S10 (WOW S10!!) and am starting into the reading today. I just hit a year with my school package and think if things continue as they have been lately I will graduate on time :)

I am in desperate need of very quick help. I recently purchased a new computer and did not know that there were two different types of Vista out there. The new computer is 64-Bit Vista. I am having some trouble installing some of the school disks because they are not compatible with 64-bit. I have any older computer I can use to finish up my school work, but I need to know how many companies there are that are compatible with 64-bit Vista. I have until Saturday to be able to return this new computer so your quick advice would be greatly appreciated.

Express Scribe and foot pedal

Hey everyone,

I'm just starting foreign accents in session 18 and have dowloaded Express Scribe and set the foot pedal according to instructions. My foot pedal now works like this: the pedal that would normally rewind is now the play pedal. Also the sound quality stinks, tho the settings have been adjusted.

Is it easier to just buy a Wave pedal? Also, I am using a laptop...has anyone purchased a new sound card that helps under these circumstances?

I hate to think that I will have to take the pre-employment test with things as they are...not comfortable with Express Scribe.

Got my Test 3 back (GU)...FAILED. Isn't one supposed to get BETTER as time goes on??? I passed my first two tests fine!!

Someone needs to boot my butt out of this funk and get me re-focused...
