Hi all -

The last thread that was started looking for students in Chicagoland was over a year ago, so I thought I'd start another to see if any of you are close by. I live in Lombard and have had the pleasure of meeting a few other students in this area but I'm sure there are more.

I'm nearing the end of session 5 and recently joined the Northern Illinois Chapter of AHDI. I'm curious to know if there are any other M-Tec students who are members.

Hi,

I'm Marg from Columbia, Maryland. I've been with M-TEC for about 17 1/2 months now, and just sent in my Pre-Employment Test. Should be 7-10 days to get that back, and hopefully, then I graduate. I am really excited. I have learned a lot these past almost 18 months.

I am the mother of 3, grandmother of 4, and am retired from govt work. I love medical transcription. It is so challenging and always interesting. Something new to learn all the time, and lots of research to do. And I love computers, too, so that helps a lot. I went to the PA-AHDI conference this fall, and found members there from PA and Virginia and Ohio and New York, but no one else from Maryland. Anyone else out there?

Ladies with toddlers-- how do you do it?

I started in Jan and am half way through session 6.Way behind. And my greades are just barely passing. Quitting is not a option! I need to finish the course to be able to make some money from home. My mom was diagnosed as alzheimers lives with me so working out of the home is not a option.Since starting I have lost 2 sons within 6 months of each other and broke a finger.( not a pity party just background)

I have been babysitting more and more lately with a 15 month old that desperately needs my help. I have not been keeping him as much recently trying to get something done on my studies.When he is here I dont get anything else done. NOTHING. I love him to pieces and worry when he isnt here. This is not a situation where I can turn it in to child welfare. Whne I take him home I cant sleep for worrying about him. Is he getting at least the mininum basic care.He is a sweet baby and FULL of energy. By the time I put him to bed at night I am too tired to think about studies. He sleeps about a hour in the afternoon.

How do you ladies with toddlers ever study?Any suggestions? I've turned it around in my mind continually but cant find a solution that I am comfortable with. I could stay up half the night studying after my kids went to bed when I was younger. Those days are gone. Sharon

I am looking forward to graduating from M-TEC soon. I want to be part of the local community of MTs. It is important to me to keep the local AHDI chapter alive and growing. To help ensure this, I agreed to fill-in as the Greater Fort Worth chapter president through 2008. It looks like I may continue this through 2009. We need involvement from the likes of fellow M-TEC students and graduates. If you have an interest in serving as an officer or a committee capacity, I would love to hear from you! Hey everyone, I'm Cathi living in Brentwood, TN (Nashville area).
I'm so happy to be a part of this program. I did a lot of research
before deciding to join M-TEC. I hope I can handle all the material.
My goal is to finish within a year while working fulltime. Surely
there are students who've done that.

My main concern is getting organized. Any tips or tricks you can
