| Lynn Lewis, October grad, gives permission to share this with you. I really can do this! I had my doubts. I actually thought that even if I made it through school that I still would not be good enough or fast enough to make it in the real world. I am doing very well. QA loves me. This is way better than school.

| Thanks, Diana, for posting this. As a hopefully soon-to-be graduate, it certainly is encouraging to hear that yes, it is possible for us newbies to make it in the real world!

This is a great place for graduates to let students know their stories. Thanks for posting!

Yes, this is very encouraging news. I just graduated and am very happy with my GPA, but I did poorly on the PE exam and started to have some doubts on whether or not I could do this at all! Nice to hear positive thoughts after graduation!

| Susan Ramis, M-TEC graduate 2008, gave permission to share this with you. I just wanted to pop in and say "Hello!" And to tell you that at my 6-month review, this is what I received from my QA via email: Your overall QA rating for Nov/Dec 2008 was 99.5%. Awesome, huh?! I also wanted to tell you THANK YOU again for all those footnotes and tips along the way while I was learning. SUSAN, YOU ROCK!

Just wanted to add to the happy grad party. I graduated in April of this year, took a break for a couple of months, and then started working in August. It was all I could do not to throw up when I downloaded my first actual dictation but I got through it and actually downloaded another one! On and on it went. I definitely struggled in the beginning with learning all of the account specs and trying to get my expander going. Also, the account I am on does several things different than what we were taught in school. THAT was fun to try and get past. I also was convinced that somebody was going to jump out of the woodwork at any moment and start yelling "Why on earth did you ever think you could do this? You stink!" but I kept at it. I was terrified to ask if I was sending too many blanks to QA because I thought the answer was going to be a ginormous YES! I was very careful to research everything and to not give up too easily when I couldn't understand something. Lo and behold, I almost passed out when last month QA told me that I was one of their top MTs for quality. Who knew? There are some days when I still feel like I'm drowning but it's MUCH better than in the beginning. This school really prepares you for getting out there. This is not a job I will ever get rich in but my big complaint about my previous jobs were that they did not take a lot of brain power and they were supremely boring. This field keeps you on your toes and you HAVE to think right down to your last brain cell in order to get through the day. Love it! Oh and by the way, commas are not that big a deal when you get to the other side. Susan

Susan,
I just read your post, and want to thank you for your insight. I just graduated, and I feel like throwing up every time I think about testing for (and, horrors!) getting a transcription job! It is so good to hear from someone who has faced the same demons and is still alive and willing to talk about it. Although intellectually I knew it wasn't true, I've had the gut feeling that all this was much easier for other students, and that someone WOULD be waiting to jump out of the woodwork at me.. telling me to take my headphones and just go home!
I promise to post back here if (WHEN) I am successfully employed, to give back to new students as you have!
Thank you!!!
