I am so excited and scared at the same time.  I am a stay-at-home mother of a 4yr old boy and a 4 month old girl.  Call me crazy for starting this new adventure in learning but I love to be busy and I think I will be VERY busy for the next 18 months.LOL

Welcome to M-TEC, Krista!  Strap yourself in and enjoy the ride! You will love it here! The other students and grads are always happy to help with any questions or problems. So don't be afraid to ask. Also, your instructor will prove invaluable to you!

With two little angels in your house to care for, I bet you are plenty busy! What's one more thing, eh?

See you in the halls!

Welcome to MTEC! Best of luck to you in your studies! I have a little girl who is about 5 months old so I kind of have a feeling of how hectic your days will be trying to fit in some studying.

Hello there fellow Canuck!

Mansfield is located 1hr north of Toronto.

Well stuides are still going slow for me with 2 at home.  Still in the TT of Session1, augh!

My son is at his first half day of Jr Kindergarden and on Thursday he is at school all day, WOW. Now I just have my 6 month old daughter at home with me 2 days a week so I should be able to make up some time now.

Happy studies to you.

Hi everyone,

Also a Canadian here, who just started session 1. So far it's not so bad.

Already I'm concerned about getting a job... I don't know how many Canadian grads work for US companies, which is where most of the business seems to be.

Don't get me wrong I know there are a number of Canadian companies but there seems to be a much larger availability of companies, therefore jobs, in the states.

Any thoughts or words of encouragement?

Hi there,

I don't often look at this particular topic, so I just happened to see your post this evening. I am a fairly recent Canadian grad, working since July of this year. I currently have 2 IC contracts -- one with an American company, and one with a Canadian company. I had no trouble finding employment after I graduated, and I have been very blessed to have more work that I can handle!

Just keep studying and make sure you graduate with a really strong GPA.

Take care,

Cheryl M.

Hello,

Sorry I missed your posting back in November. I pop onto the forum regularly for updates in the announcement and break room threads more than this one, but I am glad to see another Canadian amongst the student roster. I agree with the others about the availability of work out there, there is lots, also the freedom of working remotely allows you to work for either a Canadian or American company. The testing you go through when being considered for a company is where you show your stuff and being persistent in your job search with followup email or phone messages a key asset in being hired. My neighbor has been a MT for 5 years now and has never been out of work with sometimes having too much work being an issue. She works from home and loves it. She has 3 full days a week devoted to work while her boys are in school/daycare, and she manages to work another 2 days with the boys home. We sometimes share the kids to get more work done on some days too. I send mine kids to her and get some studies in, and she sends her boys to me and she gets some extra hours in. You could not ask for a better neighbor/friend and the fact the she also encourages me and helps me see the "real MT world" is so great too. I hope you are enjoying your studies as I am. Currently just got back my Test#1 with a 96% and moving onward through the reading assignments of Session 4.

Good luck and welcome.
