| Hello Everyone My name is Ernestine and I am a new M-Techie student. I live in Anaheim Ca. Close to Disneyland. I am waiting on my first package to arrive. It's very exciting to start on a new chapter in my life and hopefully it will be as fulfilling as I hope it will be. Does anyone have any advice for me? What can I expect with the first assignment?

Hmmm, what to expect with the first assignment.... to be totally overwhelmed from my recollection (sorry, it's a little fuzzy 2 years ago!) My best advice is just to follow the syllabus and take it one check mark at a time.
Also, start working on your organization skills and put together a loose leaf notebook and/or electronic notebook (like OneNote) to keep yourself on top of things. You'll redo everything a million times throughout the course if you're anything like me, but better to start somewhere. Get into a regular studying routine early on and use the time line on the SLC to keep you on track. Wish I would've taken some of my own advice or I wouldn't be needing all these extensions now, LOL !
Try to go to as many classes as you can too. You won't understand it all this early on in your studies, but it's still worth it to get your feet wet and get ahead of the game a little, so to speak. Main thing is just to take a deep breathe and dive in!
Best of luck to you,
Kris

Welcome!!
Be prepared to have a great brain enriching experience! The best things to do are go to the SLC and start reading the transcription tips. Just pick some and start.
Having some organizing materials on hand like OneNote and just plain old index cards help.
Set aside a study time and do your best to not let anyone interrupt you.
Don't study too long at a stretch, you will not get it all in, remember to take a break, get up and walk, anything!
Go to the online classes, they are fun and engaging. You might not understand it all right away, but that's OK.
Have fun everyday!
Welcome aboard!

I agree with the other posts--great advice. If it has been a while since you have been in school, it might be helpful for you to find out what type of study style you have. Some people have to physically write down notes and terms to help remember them. Others like to use flashcards. Others like to type summaries for chapters. If you Google "study styles" there are several links to help you figure it out. Once you know the best way for you to learn, you can devise a study plan and schedule which will help keep you organized and on track. Good luck!!
