I work in a large city hospital and I see the reports that the transcriptionists transcribe( currently our hospital both outsources and uses internal transcriptionist) and I have to say that hospital dictation is not as precise as MTEC requires us to be. Most of the people that work here in our hospital do not have a clue as to what they are transcribing. The reports I see that my DOCs get back are honestly appalling. Even the most basic medical terminology is butchered. My docs complain all the time about it. I laugh b/c I tell them how important it is to be at least 98% at MTEC. My point is that although it will be good "experience" IMO you will probably be able to teach them a thing or two. Most MDs in my hospital do the editing. Sad but true.

Holy cow! So I had never heard another peep about this job after the interview, and then BAM!, a voice message from her asking me to come if for a typing test the very next day. It was so cool to go through the nervousness of an official typing test. I won't know if I got the job for another week, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed until then

How cool Lacy! Good luck and let us know how you did! Hopefully they won't keep you waiting as long this time for an answer.

Enjoy!

Woooo Hoooo, Lacy!  Way to go!  Congratulations!!!!!

Edited to change "Nancy" to "Lacy."  For some reason my brain always saw "Nancy."    Sorry about that.

Just finished my last shift at my administrative position at the insurance office today, and last weekend I wrapped up my front desk position at a hotel. I've passed all my pre-employment necessities and start next Tuesday. I am soooo excited to start my position as a transcriptionist! I still can't believe that I got hired as a student. One of the best feelings is that the people who hired me call just to let me know they can't wait for me to start, and how excited they are that I've decided to work for them. Yeah, like I would really turn down this opportunity down I'll have to go into at least 6 months of extensions to finish this course now, but they are so supportive. They keep stressing they hire for quality over quantity, so take the time to do it right!
