I am a new student in the Tier 1 Basic program.  I have a degree in health services administration, so I was told Tier 1 Basic would suffice.

I decided to pursue a career in medical transcription after I lost my baby girl.  We knew she had a chromosomal issue and I did a lot of soul searching during that time.  I want to be with my future children (she was our first, I am in my mid-20's) and I want to watch them grow.  I hope I can succeed.

I work 35-40 hours a week and need some reassurance I can complete this program in 6 months.  I also like to socialize and not spend all my time at home.  Can someone give me some advice from someone who has been there?

Hi Lacey,

I'm from Indiana, too. I know it will be a challenge to finish in 6 months. We are here to support you, and if you ever need some encouragement feel free to PM me. There is also an awesome M-TEC group on Facebook. We cheer each other on and give motivation when needed.

Sorry to hear about your little baby girl. I hope you are getting the support you need.

Good luck in all of your studies here at M-TEC. I'm sure you will do great!

Welcome aboard!

Welcome Lacey!

I don't have any advice to give on completing the course in 6 months. You may have to cut back a bit on the socializing for the time being. Just keep your goal in mind, and it will be worth it in the long run.

I wish you the best in your studies!

I'm from southern Indiana - a town called Jasper.    We love our baseball here.

I don't socialize that much, but I enjoy getting out of the house.

Thanks for the support!!  What is the facebook group called?

And, to be honest, I'm done with the snow!  Bring on summer!

First please accept my sympathy over the loss of your daughter. How heart wrenching.

I dont know anything about the basic program so cant offer any thoughts on that.Is there any possibility of cutting your hours some?? You sound determined so I am sure you will find a workable schedule. Study nights? weekends? Knowing your goal is to be a stay-st-home mom for your future kids will motivate you to figure out study time. Yes you can do it. Just keep plugging away. And come back to the forum. Its really a great place for support, venting, kicks in the rear to get going etc. You will do fine !! Sharon

I just want to thank you all for your advice, but most of all for your thoughts about our baby.  It's been hard, but we've learned to appreciate everything that much more.

Lacey

PS - where are the rest of you from in Indiana?
