| Hello everyone! I just wanted to come back and let everyone know (graduates and students) that I have started my 2nd week of work, and my boss is already asking me to take on more dictations because she is impressed with my work thus far! I graduated in November 2009, took the holidays off, and then started applying EVERYWHERE! The combination of my timing and graduating from M-TEC helped tremendously to land this 1st job! I know there is a lot of negative feedback as far as MT jobs go, but they are out there. I promise! It's all in the timing. M-TEC has prepared me so much for my career as an MT, and I am so thankful to have found them (especially my instructor Marie Roberts!) So fellow graduates, keep looking and sending that resume. Someone will take notice that you graduated from the best MT school, and they will hire you! If you are a current student, my suggestions to you would be to keep studying and do the best that you can do! Take it 1 day at a time, and don't worry now about all of the negative feedback you are hearing. As with any career, there are highs and lows. Just do your best! Best of luck to all!

Good for you, Jenners! I feel very positive about this career choice as well. I've never had a job that I enjoy so much, and I get to work from home in my sweats, with my dogs at my feet. It is definitely hard to get your foot in the door, but so worth it. Good luck to everyone!

Oh thank you for this! I'm working on my PE and was getting very nervous about finding a job after I'm completely done! I was nervous enough to see if I should fall back on the career I left behind!!!
I'm glad things are going well for you! Thanks again!!!!

| I graduated from M-TEC's Tier I Premier course at the end of December 2009, and applied like crazy everywhere (mostly with national companies). I was beginning to get discouraged (so many job listings said NO NEWBIES right off the bat). I tested with several. Just when I was starting to look for NON-MT work (I was a freelance writer before having children) my hubbie had my daughter at our pediatrician's office... he dropped my name, and a few days later, the MT who does the work for the whole office called ME to see if I was interested in sharing her load. No interview, no resume---just a "test" tape to see if I could handle it, and I was in! I started just last week. Looks like I'll be getting as much work as I can handle, and she pays TWICE what the nationals do. I am relieved and ecstatic.... and kicking myself for thinking that working for local docs would mean I would have to work on site (not true---I am working from home!!) Ironically, I am having to unlearn many of the rules I learned at M-TEC, which goes to show that each account really is its own entity. I really feel that M-TEC's in-depth training allowed me to hit the ground running!!! Don't be afraid to look locally, and hang in there! WoooHOOOOO!

That just goes to show that when you least expect it your blessing is right around the corner. Congratulations! Hope everything will go well for you. You can't go wrong with all these skills Mtec teaches. Don't forget us newbies back here. You'll have to pop in every once in a while a drop a few lines of wisdom.
Kind regards, Sonya
