Hi all! I'm in the midst of awaiting my course materials to arrive and am quite anxious to get started. My "box" is due to be shipped on Mar. 8. I've been using my time to wade through the forum and have been taking notes regarding helpful tips, advice, links, software solutions, etc. I've found that there is a wealth of information here which I'm sure will be helpful to me once I'm fully immersed in the course.

I'm a bit nervous because I'm 39 years old and my memory isn't nearly as good as it used to be. I took another course several years ago without doing my research. (Shame on me!) Long story short, the "school" turned out to be less than satisfactory and I walked away lighter in my wallet with a heavy heart. After MUCH research, I chose to enroll in M-Tec and am convinced that I've made a wonderful choice. I've been reading a LOT of posts from students who are having second thoughts and self doubt, but have been pleasantly surprised by the amount of support here.

I am feeling really good about my decision and have adopted a "failure is not an option" mindset. Luckily, I don't have small children to contend with anymore. My youngest is 18 and in the Navy, and my oldest is 20 and expecting her first baby soon. I'm going to be a grandma and new student at the same time.

I hope to get to know some of you and look forward to diving into the first session.

Teri

Hi Teri!

Welcome to M-Tec. I am living in Oklahoma now, but originally from Connecticut. Good luck with everything, you've chosen a great school!

Hi Karen! Thanks so much for the welcome, and the encouragement. I have been going through the forum and reading both positive and negative posts. Although I'm apprehensive, I'm convinced that I made the right choice. Thank you for reassuring me!

Hi Teri!  I'm a newbie myself.  Well, I'm in Session 3, but I still consider myself "fresh"!  Lots to learn!  I'm a couple of years older than you and my brain hasn't thought this hard in a long time!  It feels good when things start to sink in though!  Best of luck!

Suzy

Oh good!  I thought I was the only one with the brain/retention issues.  Glad to hear I'm not.  I'm 42 and this stuff is really stretching those brain waves.  I'm getting ready to go into session 2, but first I have to complete all the new stuff that was just added since the new SLC.  How are folks doing?  Any problems?  You guys are slightly ahead of me, so I'll have to keep up with you to learn what to look out for or not.

Kind regards,
Sonya

Hi Sonya! So glad to hear that there are more of us than I thought with the "retention" problem. I'm actually cruising right along. I found that after I had the infamous "session 3 meltdown) now session 1, I've been doing much better. I'm actually in Session 3 now (old session 5). I work on schooling about 12+ hrs. per day, 6 days a week, so it's going a little bit faster for me than some others who aren't able to devote so much time. I also don't have any small children, so I know that also helps. I am, however, getting ready to become a grandma any day.

It's so great to "meet" others who are in this with me. Message me anytime. We can help to keep one another encouraged.

Teri

Sure will!  We'll keep in touch.  Although you're just a little ahead, if you need help, i.e help practicing, testing, or encouragement I'm just a phone call away.  Would love to try and keep up with a few friends that way we can help each other along, give some tips to look out for, drill each other.  I'll pm you.

Kind regards,
Sonya
