Okay, so I'm officially losing my mind.
Please tell me that this module was hard for everyone else, too. I think the first dictation was the worst, but I still am struggling more than I think I should with the others and feeling worried that I'm still not ready to be an MT!

Will I ever really be able to understand what I'm hearing?

I know there are other discussions about this and I'm on my way to read them, but I just needed to whine.

Oh, and is the PE as hard as the reports in this module?

Going to find chocolate...

You are not alone!
I have had to redo every single one so far (I am up to #4). When I finish I am just going to redo all of them in another file to make sure that my ears have learned something. I am with you on thinking my brain must just be a little overwhelmed.
Keep going, we are almost there!!

Uh oh. I am on Session 15 and I guess it is going to get worse.

I hope you found all the chocolate you were looking for.

Hey Laurel! I guess we can just focus on the fact that we are truly about to cross the finish line! That is really motivating me right now in a big way. I was so worried yesterday when I was struggling so much, but I found that I was able to hear things better the more I repeated the reports. Good luck to you on the PE!
Lorrie - I DID find chocolate and yes, it helped!

I too have just started these.  The first one sounds like he is dictating while scuba diving.  At least these aren't graded.

Yes I think the best thing I can say about these reports is that as long as we get it in before April 1 we are not graded. I am still trying to get the platform set up to the speeds I want and have it rewind the amount I want. I really don't like the quality of sound in addition to trying to figure out what is being said
At this point I am just really excited to be this close! I cannot wait to finish and get to work!
Keep at it everyone just a little more to go

I am working on these as well. They are frustrating to say the least... One report, the dictator sounded like he literally said "blah blah" at one point ...It was a stumper! LOL. I have definitely had to redo these AT LEAST twice. I've been getting scores in the 50's the first go-round. Can't wait to be done with these!!!

I thought the foreign accent review dictations were an exception to the new policy? That is the way I understood it.

Don't worry, Gayle. I believe you are correct. From the email last week: "In addition to eliminating retakes, we will now be grading all the advanced reports that you are currently doing for review with the exception of the foreign dictator report."

The email about the changes came out just after I finished Session 17 and started Session 18 so that jumped right out at me.

Thanks for telling me! I know I will be done before that point but it was making me nervous.
I am almost done with them, and then I get to do them all over again for a third time. Just for fun
