Hi Debbie,

I'm so glad you jumped in and noticed this thread since you were the perfect person to respond from recent personal experience and being so close to many service owners last week.  From feedback I have received in the past even from Italian and Canadian residents, I too have found the responses to be varied.  I believe employment laws, taxes, etc., enter into the picture as well.  As you pointed out though, it may not be totally impossible to align yourself with a company that would accommodate your location.

I think the Student Alliance will be a great asset to AAMT and to all students and grads.  Keep up the good work!

Each day is a gift, so make the most of it!!!

I'm glad someone asked this question. I'm planning on moving to Canada within the next few years and I'm hoping it doesn't prove to be a problem. Certainly they get FedEx and UPS over there--it's not exactly far away!

Canada isn't in the same scheme of things as far as working outside of the U.S. I was running around with a Canadian student from the Online Chapter and she found a number of companies that hire in Canada; some even have satellite offices there. You should be fine.

Debbie is right.  We just had a recent graduate who moved to Canada just as he was graduating.  He just emailed us the other day to say he was happily employed and making his way through their training process at this time.

Wow, that's a load off! Now all I have to do is hit the SEND button on my pre-employment trasriptions.

The answer seems to be an unequivocable "no" for countries other than the US, Canada, and military bases.

I'm not sure what to do with this information. I talked to several companies and they said they just can't do it.
