Hi All !  I'm new here - just looking to see if there are any other military spouses out there that are overseas?  My husband is USAF and we're in Germany.  I don't have materials yet, but hopefully soon - am looking forward to getting started with the program (although I am nervous !)

Hello! And, Welcome to M-TEC!

My husband is retired Air Force. We spent a couple of tours in Germany. Where are you stationed?

Hi Virginia !  We are currently stationed near the Dutch border at Geilenkirchen NATO Base - before that we were in lovely Italy for two years !!!  We're enjoying it very much.  Where were you all stationed?

Hi!

In Germany we were stationed in: Baumholder, Sembach, and Weisbaden. The last one, Weisbaden, isn't TOOOO awfully far from where you are now!

Isn't Germany just BEAUTIFUL???? Especially in the Spring of the year when the flowers are all blooming! It is wonderful!

Be sure to eat some Weinerschnitzel for me! Oh, yes, and some currywurst!

Welcome aboard. Don't be nervous. It will all fall into place!

Hi;

I'm not a military spouse, but I did spend ten years in the Air Force.  Germany was my favorite.  I was at Buchel German Air Base from 1989 - 1993.  Now I live in Louisiana and transcribe at a local hospital.

I started transcription cold - I applied for work and they asked if I'd be willing to transcribe.  I had no formal training.  I enjoyed word games and liked looking stuff up & learning new things.  Everybody I asked who knew anything about it told me, "Don't do that.  I did that for a while and hated it."  So far I've been doing it for about eight years now...

Hi, Annette! I'm in the Shreveport area. Where in Louisiana are you?

When I go to Symposiums, I have to remember that not EVERYone there had formal training. I have to remember that I am not attending an M-TEC meeting, and that I am most likely the only M-TECer there!

Your post reminded me of that. Apparently, the MT's before us mostly were trained OJT! But, I am glad I have M-TEC.
