Subject: Invitation to SECDEF and SECLABOR Kickoff of the Military Spouse Career Advancement Initiative
Peter, I hope you can attend.

Please find attached invitation to the kick-off of the Military Spouse Advancement Initiative co-hosted by the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Labor. The Dept of Labor and the Department of Defense are jointly sponsoring this project to help military spouses attain education, training, and portable career employment in four high-growth portable career

fields: education, health care, information technology and financial services. This collaboration in support of military spouses has great potential to improve the financial well-being and stability of our troops and families, who serve our country so selflessly.

The ceremony will be held November 14, 11:15 a.m., in the Pentagon Auditorium (BH650).

Eight states and 18 installations are participating in this unprecedented

initiative: California (NAS San Diego, Camp Pendleton), Colorado (Fort Carson, Peterson AFB), Florida (Eglin AFB, Hurlburt Field, Jacksonville NAS), Georgia (Fort Benning), Hawaii (Hickam AFB, MCBH Kaneohe Bay, Naval Base Pearl Harbor, Schofield Barracks), Maine (Brunswick NAS), North Carolina (Fort Bragg, Pope AFB) and Washington (Fort Lewis, McChord AFB, NS Kitsap-Bremerton).

Governors of participating states and Members of Congress have also been invited!
